Ah, yes, the Christmas season favorite. Just like A Charlie Brown Christmas, or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, SantaSM has a place in my heart every holiday season. A really weird, creepy place, that enjoys making other people feel weird and creepy. “WHO WANTS TO BE THE PIED PIPER?!”

Commuting
Man, I love riding a bicycle in to work in the snow! The roads were okay, but the bike path was a sheet of ice. It wasn’t the ideal snow for riding in (fresh, thick powder before it turns to dirty slush or ice…this morning tended towards both of the latter two…) It’s just cool, the laser-focused attention you have on the pavement in front of you, the heart-pounding...

The Beast (1988) - About a Soviet tank and its crew lost in the mountains of Afghanistan, hunted by mujahadeen wanting to take revenge for the tank’s wanton destruction of their village. Not a bad film, though the whole “insane commander and fearful, obedient underlings” thing is kind of a cliche. Interesting how here (in 1988) the tribal mujahadeen are portrayed as noble...
Art Grant Submitted!

Hopefully it won’t be that much. Also hopefull, I’ll get more than the minimum for the piece. I also picked up some good MDF board to...
Movies Watched
Footloose, at the Mile High Sci Fi. They did a great job skewering the film! R. and I were laughing our asses off. Bummer news: this was the last MHSF at the FilmCenter; they’re moving to some boutique cinema/bar in THORNTON! Ugh. I might go once, ‘cause they gave us passes, but I can’t imagine driving all the way up there and then having to pay for a movie. Bleah. I love MHSF,...

Film Festival, Yeah, Festival’s long over; I’m just now catching up on writing about it… This is why I don’t keep a blog, yeah? I may not have these in order but it’s not like anyone cares…
Tuesday: The Desert Within, great Mexican film; pretty disturbing, but I loved the imagery and animated elements. The documentary about the Czech photographer Jan Saudek...
