Weird Babby Feature
Rocky pointed out something really weird to me last weekend—that at the “soft spot” in Babby’s skull, where the bones have not grown together yet, you can see it pulsing through the skin. Weird, seeing the blood pulsing in (or near, anyway) his actual brain…  I know it’s the blood pulsing, but I like thinking that instead of blood, it’s thoughts bouncing...

Babby
Babby got his two-month checkup yesterday. Ten pounds, seven point three ounces. We decided to get his vaccinations on the Dr. Sears “alternative schedule,” which means twice as many visits to the doctor (and more overall shots), but fewer shots each visit (yesterday was just one shot and an oral vaccine, vs. the normal two oral vaccines and three shots all at once). The idea is the...

Anarchy & Scotch: The Human Centipede: a review... →
anarchyandscotch: For some reason, I’ve been seeing The Human Centipede discussed among several people I follow lately, and it has inspired me to repost the review I wrote last summer. (Yes, this is me reposting something I wrote when I didn’t have many followers in a shameless attempt to get more attention…

Don't go outside: Quick Quiz →
seanbonner: Johnny and Tammy are in Mrs. Smiths 3rd grade glass. Johnny and Tammy are passing notes saying bad things about all the other students in the class. Susan finds one of these notes and gives it to Mrs. Smith who reads it allowed to the class. Many of the students in the class are upset because…

How did the word "FUCK" come from?
art-of-observation: Long time ago in England, a couple could not have a sex without a written permission from the king (Except if she/he was a member of the royal family). So if someone wanted to have babies, they will go to the king to ask for a written permission. The king then gave a kind of pass card that must be hung on the bedroom door when they had a sex. The card read “F.U.C.K.”...

Movie Idea
I like my movie idea from that last post. A girl falls in love, but get this: the lover is a zombie! Also, the lover is a poor black [dead] sharecropper from Georgia, and she’s a rich white [living] girl from Beverly Hills! And he’s discovered a cure for zombieism! But government agents are chasing both of them to steal the answer for their own political purposes! I can hear...

Movies Watched
Watched the Benjamin Bratt movie La Mission last night. Eh. Hard lowridin’ cholo finds out his son’s gay. Has trouble dealing with it. Entire plot, right there. The acting was good, but the plot was pretty simple. Hit you over the head with obvious symbolism. Convenient deus ex machina gets rid of the villain. Also, I don’t get why the movie was named “La Mission.”...

Sleeeeep...
I am sooo tired. And I forgot to bring any energy drinks to work today. Coffee is just not enough. I think I got maybe four hours of sleep last night, five tops. Which would be do-able, if only all this week I haven’t also been getting the same. Babby needs to get on a better sleep/feeding schedule. One feeding at 1:30 a.m. was perfect: fed him 3 ounces of milk before he got fussy, kept him...

Christmas Decorations
So in addition to a row of colored C9 (the big ones) Christmas LED lights along the gutter at the front of the house, I rimmed each of the three big windows at the front of the house with colored micro LED lights. The house looks really good—not gaudy, or overdone, but it’s pretty. It helps that no one else on our entire block has many lights up at all (as compared to parts of our...

Secrecy
Reuters: “The U.S. Air Force has blocked employees from visiting media websites carrying leaked WikiLeaks documents, including The New York Times and the Guardian, a spokesman said on Tuesday.” “The more secretive or unjust an organization is, the more leaks induce fear and paranoia in its leadership and planning coterie.” - Julian Assange

Trivia
I splurged the other week and bought myself a four-pack of Oskar Blues Brewery’s Ten Fidy Imperial Stout. It’s thick and black, like used motor oil. It’s immensely flavorful. And it’s like 10.5% alcohol. Tasty, but you definitely don’t need more than one. Apparently, Russian or Imperial stouts are higher in alcohol content because they were originally brewed in Great...

Superpower
You know how people ask the question, “If you could have one superpower, what would it be?” Common answers are flight, superstrength, x-ray vision, etc.. I normally would have picked flight, because, you know, being able to fly! But now I think it would have to be “teleportation.” How cool would it be to be able to go anywhere in the world in an instant? Plus, you could...

Travel Story: Egypt
There’s a great traveler hostel in Cairo, generally acknowledged as one of the cheapest places, so it attracts the real hard-core budget travelers, both those coming up from Africa and those going down. It’s really friendly and helpful and a great place to get information or meet other people to go up the Nile with. The Sultan hotel, especially Sultan III, which is on the 5th floor, and so is a...

Travel Story: Morocco
One of the coolest things that I did in Morocco was go to the hammam, or public baths. I don’t know if they’re popular because people don’t have such nice facilities in their houses, or for the social atmosphere, or (more likely) both. Or maybe they’re not as popular as I imagine them. Anyway. You go in, they give you a plastic bowl, you strip down to your undies, then you take your plastic bowl...

Movies Watched
It’s A Wonderful Life - Five stars, ‘nuff said. Inception (finally!) - Now at the dollar cinema! Anyway, great movie; I understand all the buzz now. Five stars. Tropic Thunder - I’ve wanted to see this for ages, and we got it and a bunch of other movies at the library the other day. This was hilarious; maybe my favorite comedy film this year. Five stars. As always, Robert...
